A boutique institute for sound engineering and music production, founded in Mumbai in 2012.

About

An award-winning media-arts institute

The Media Tribe is an award-winning institute offering courses in sound engineering and music production, set up under Ashish Manchanda, a four-time IRAA Award winner and protégé of multi-Grammy-winning Michael Jackson engineer Bruce Swedien. Our objective is to raise the bar of music and entertainment education in India, giving you the vision, experience and expertise to fulfil your dreams in the music industry.

Over the last decade we've built a legacy of producing highly talented, successful professionals. A defining feature is real-world experience — students work on actual projects while still studying, interacting with industry professionals even before they graduate.

“The truth is there aren't any secrets for success. But you have to go through the journey yourself.”— Ashish Manchanda, Founder · 4× IRAA · Full Sail Hall of Fame · Recording Academy (Grammy) Voting Member
Why TMT

Learn. And create.

Education at The Media Tribe blends two methods — formal classroom education and the Guru–Shishya Parampara, the classic Indian tradition of learning the arts. By integrating theory and practice with access to real industry projects, our vocational approach means you don't just learn, you create — transitioning into the working world seamlessly.

Real industry projects

Hands-on training on live projects, so you work on industry projects before you finish.

World-class equipment and technology

Students train on world-class equipment and technology. We bring exposure on world-class facilities, in the studio and on set, to practise, collaborate and create.

Award-winning

Recipients of the Dewang Mehta Award for Industry Interface and the Lokmat / Loksatta Education Leadership Award.

Individualised mentoring

A nurturing environment where each student's creativity and intellect can blossom.

Leadership

Led from the studio floor

The Media Tribe is run by working producers and engineers whose credits are current. Aman Moroney leads the institute day to day; the founding members set its standard and remain closely involved in its direction.

Principal / Lead

Aman Moroney

Music producer, songwriter and mixer · Producer on Coldplay’s “We Dance” and co-writer and producer of four songs for Paramount’s The Smurfs, including “Everything Goes with Blue” featuring Tyla · Indian Recording Arts Academy Music Producer of the Year · Voting Member, the Recording Academy · Los Angeles and Mumbai

Aman leads The Media Tribe day to day: the classes and workshops, the travel, and the doors that open for students onto real projects. Raised in a musical household in Nagpur and trained in music technology at the University of South Wales in Cardiff, he came into the group in 2013 from the floor of Coke Studio and built his career inside it: Coke Studio, MTV Unplugged, The Dewarists, The Stage and India's Rawstar; Vice-President of Labels at Boon Castle and lead producer at Flying Carpet Productions; long-time producer for Alif; and, from Los Angeles, records with Rihanna and Coldplay and four songs for Paramount's The Smurfs. He has run Media Tribe cohorts at IIT Bombay and leads the institute's workshops across India. What he teaches comes from the work he is doing now.
